Dick came into this world in 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Dicks family had, what we would call, an unofficial history in the spirits business. And we dont mean ghosts. Dick had an uncle who owned a bar that served homemade gin during the prohibition years, Prohibition be damned.

Everyone who knows Dick, knows how much he loves his whisky, served in a rocks glass over two ice cubes. Dicks wife, Mary, would say, Whisky makes Dick frisky. Dick and Mary proudly raised five children. Not wanting a sixth, Mary devised a plan and enlisted the help of friends and relatives. She knew too much whisky made Dick tired. After a wink from Mary, the bartender knew what to ask. Want another whisky, Dick?

This whisky recipe from Dicks father, dating back to 1892, was recently unearthed in a Southside Chicago backyard bar called The Stables. It is ready to be shared with other great bourbon chasers of this century.
